Prince Gong's Mansion is the best-preserved princely residence complex from the Qing Dynasty, bearing witness to the extravagance of Heshen and the era of Prince Gong Yixin. Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant weather. Visit on a weekday morning to avoid weekend and holiday crowds. You can easily combine your visit with a trip to the nearby Shichahai area.

Avoid Chinese Holidays

Strongly avoid Golden Week (Oct 1-7), Chinese New Year (late Jan/Feb), and Labor Day (May 1-5). Crowds are extreme and tickets often sell out weeks in advance.
