The Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum is the final resting place of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the forerunner of China's democratic revolution, nestled within Nanjing's Purple Mountain Scenic Area. The architectural complex, built along the mountain slope, combines Chinese and Western styles using white granite and blue glazed tiles, creating a solemn and grand atmosphere. Spring and autumn offer the most pleasant weather and beautiful scenery. Arrive in the morning to avoid crowds and allocate 2-3 hours for your visit. Wear comfortable shoes for climbing the steps. Note the regular Monday closure (except on national holidays) and plan your trip accordingly.

Avoid Chinese Holidays

Strongly avoid Golden Week (Oct 1-7), Chinese New Year (late Jan/Feb), and Labor Day (May 1-5). Crowds are extreme and tickets often sell out weeks in advance.

Free entry requires real-name reservation. Book at least one day in advance via the WeChat official account '钟山风景区' (Zhongshan Scenic Area) under 'Ticket Services' -> 'Reservation Service'. Present your second-generation ID card for entry upon successful booking; same-day reservations are not available. Sightseeing buses inside require separate tickets. Driving is not recommended due to high parking fees (approx. 20 RMB/hour); public transport is advised. Be cautious of unauthorized fees from individuals near parking areas.
